Fucking Texans, amiright?
What was it Molly said? Oh, yes: “The next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president, please pay attention!” One could, probably should, extend Molly’s admonition to cover any national political office as it seems all Texas politicians are imbued – undoubtedly at birth – with a special mixture of ignorance and malice. The old “Well, ah cain’t rightly say he’s good…if you know what ah mean…but he surely does have himself some good intentions.”
But Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) appears to be a special 1 tool of the first order.
“They stroke their face. If they’re a male baby, they may have their hand between their legs. If they feel pleasure, why is it so hard to believe that they could feel pain?”
Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick.
Seriously? A medical doctor inferring fetal masturbation? What a maroon! Hell, given the way Republican “thinking” goes, we’re surprised that HR 1797, intended to outlaw nearly all abortions 20 weeks post-fertilization, doesn’t have a section detailing penalties 2 for the mother for allowing ‘immoral’ actions by her (putative) progeny.
The Republicans rammed this through the House yesterday.
All of which explains why the majority of American’s don’t listen to the Republican party any more. As Mr. Coates explained last week:
“If you are not around people who will look at you like you are crazy when you make stupid claims about other people’s experiences, then you tend to keep saying stupid things about other people’s experiences. It is not enough to pay a political price, or even to be shamed into silence. You have to come to believe — in your heart — that sincerity itself is not the same as accurate information. It is not enough for you to not be “the party of stupid” or to “stop saying stupid things” you must show some active commitment toward being less stupid.”
Fat chance, huh?
It’s not like the self-destructive wing of the Republican party is suddenly going to come to its senses and recant, repent and atone for its sins. 3 Never happen in a million years.
That being the case, why don’t the ReThugs quit fiddle farting around and just git ‘er done?
Instead of continually sponsoring nonsense legislation with no hope of ever becoming law, sponsor and force through the House bills to rescind all rights of women and minorities. Then send them on to the Senate and double-dog dare them to not pass them. Man up! Show Amerika that you mean business, ReThugs!
And when that fails, do us a favor and go and live in the sort of repressive theocracy you obviously favor.
Iran comes to mind. 4
