We noted last month that Village Voice Media, erstwhile owner of The Pitch, was set to be sold off for a six-pack and a pizza. According to Forbes that just happened:
The Village Voice is changing hands again. The free downtown paper and the 12 other alternative weeklies that make up Village Voice Media have been acquired in a private equity-backed management buyout led by chief operating officer Scott Tobias. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, nor was the identity of the backer.
Now watch: Tobias and company will engineer a turn-around, complete with pay raises, new hirings and unicorn rainbow farts for everyone! 1
