A fellow office worker spent some military time downwind of a cherry-hot Chernobyl in 86-87, as he explained to his surprised audiologist the other day who was asking what the hell those nodes were in his ear.
That particular disaster, if you don’t remember, melted all of our expectations of nuclear plants 26 years ago this month. The plant itself was located in the Ukrainian city of Pripyat, where more than 40,000 residents were exposed to fallout 100 times greater than both A-bombs dropped on Japan.
