This is salt of the earth people I\’m talkin\ about

Georgia State Rep. Terry England was just speaking 1 in favor of HB 954, which makes it illegal to obtain an abortion after 20 weeks even if the woman is known to be carrying a stillborn fetus or the baby is otherwise not expected to live to term. Because, you know, pigs and cows do – why not women?

Just so I’m clear…it is now the official stance of the Rethug Party that preserving death is somehow pro-life?

Most recently The Fat One weighed in on how sluts should behave, prior to that Texas was feeling its grits, and earlier this year Virginia put on some Barry White and got in a rapey kinda mood.

Is it something in the air? Or, we suspect, something in the tea?

If you responded Tea Baggers! give yourself a gazillion points; since the 2010 election the rate of anti-anythingtodowithwomen legislation has exploded. 2 Last year alone state legislatures passed a record number of laws restricting reproductive rights:

In the 50 states combined, legislators introduced more than 1,100 reproductive health and rights-related provisions, a sharp increase from the 950 introduced in 2010. By year’s end, 135 of these provisions had been enacted in 36 states, an increase from the 89 enacted in 2010 and the 77 enacted in 2009.

Much of this legislation has been to ban abortion after 20 weeks in a blatant attempt to divide the doctor-patient relationship by politics.

This is physically dangerous to women. It is also unconscionable. As well as, seemingly, endless.

  1. Metaphorically; this actually occurred “live” last week.
  2. We just knew that whole fiscal responsibility lark was a front; when’s the last time a Rethug actually created a balanced budget or refrained from doling out pork to his special interest buddies? If you answered “Never!”, you’d be correct.
