Charter 77

Václav Havel died over the weekend.

Havel attended no formal secondary schools; the ruling communists declared him ”too bourgeois” to continue his studies.

Instead he became a playwright. And dissident.

In ’89 he led a movement, the original ‘Arab Spring’, that toppled the ruling communist regime. Then, seemingly overnight, he became his country’s President.

Havel flipped Czechoslovakia from communism to a democracy running a free-market economy. Then, in a stroke of genius, Havel made Frank Zappa an honorary cultural ambassador to Czechoslovakia.

The subsequent lawsuits brought by the ACLU were all settled favorably for the young women.
